Job Description

Excited to be involved in the development and support of biomedical applications and software tools for research and clinical purposes?

 

We are seeking Jr Software Engineer to assist in the design, implementation and maintenance of software tools that use computational pathology and machine learning methods, access in-house and external databases, and integrate and display data on the fly. Additionally, you will process and analyze data from multi-modalities medical imaging and high-throughput next-generation sequencing with an emphasis in pathology.

About our team:

Translational Informatics collaborates closely with the Department of Pathology and other informatics teams to bring results from various lab assays, genomics and proteomics to clinical and research systems.

What you'll be doing:

  • Create software and algorithms that enable discoveries in medicine and evaluation of biological variation in disease, including cancer
  • Develop software linking databases and produce required functional, technical, and user documentation i.e. system architecture, data flows, end-users training requirements on assigned projects
  • Design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation of software systems
  • Participate in server, application, and database development and in the building and testing of complex systems
  • Collaborate with a team of machine learning experts, engineers and clinicians to build a new generation of artificial intelligence in cancer detection and treatment
  • Provide consultation and guidance to research scientists, as well as other bioinformatics engineers
  • Enhance professional growth through participation in scientific and technical discussions, workshops, and seminars to stay up to speed on web technology and computational tools

Who you are:

  • 2+ years working as a Full Stack Software Engineer; Bachelor's Degree (Master’s preferred) or equivalent
  • Familiarity with advanced programming and mathematical tools, such as: Python, SQL, and/or Java, JavaScript
  • Experience with building front end data visualization portals, data processing, messaging queues, and enterprise search engines is desirable
  • Good analytical and interpersonal skills to build relationships, deliver customer-centric solutions, and manage ambiguity
