As a SRE Engineer on the Tools Team at Addepar, you will utilize your combination of significant UNIX experience, network knowledge, scripting abilities, information security and debugging skills to design, deploy, monitor and automate all operational aspects of Addepar's platform.

You will be responsible for the design, iteration and maintenance of infrastructure-related systems and services. You should have a background in large-scale system administration and be familiar with open source technologies such as Jenkins, git, and Kafka. You will work very closely with the product and development teams. Oncall, AWS experience and scripting (Python, shell) a must. 

 

Responsibilities

  • We want engineers that can automate the deployment, administration and monitoring of our large-scale Linux, container, and cloud-service environments.
  • Build from the ground up reliable infrastructure components to deliver highly scalable internal IAAS and tooling.
  • Responsible for tooling the overall health and performance of our platform.
  • You should know standard security practices and also be able to identify any potential application specific vulnerabilities.
  • Gain deep application-level knowledge to inform infrastructure requirements and constraints, as well as contributing to applications overall design.
  • Work with engineering and operations teams to enhance, document, establish processes and generally improve the operability and security of our systems.

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • A desire to expand your skillset in every item in this list.
  • Experience building and maintaining internet-facing application environments.
  • Demonstrable experience with the entire life cycle of software, starting with Systems Architecture, Systems Design, and Implementation- and then maintenance and operation.
  • Experience with any applied aspect of UNIX/BSD/Linux internals. (we use Ubuntu)
  • Experience writing systems automation tooling, (open source code to discuss, good/bad/ugly, is a plus).
  • Cloud environment fundamentals (we use AWS)
  • Container knowledge and experience is a plus.
  • Internet Networking fundamentals, IPv4, (AWS vpc a plus)
  • Securable Systems and Programming practices.
  • Programming/Scripting in various common languages, (We use python [boto3], shell, and general UNIX tools)
  • Programming experience using and writing HTTP Service API’s and data exchange protocols (we use JSON)
  • Experience using general systems orchestration and cloud automation toolkits.
  • Exposure to industry practices in financial services is a plus.
  • Experience with datacenter deploy/buildout and non-cloud infrastructure a plus.
  • Experience with distributed data processing, databases, and large scale file systems is a plus.
