The Role: 

As the Automation Lead, you will coordinate and drive Newsela’s automation strategy and implementation. You will also be responsible for building, contributing to, and evangelizing a sustainable automation framework that utilizes reusable components for the ongoing development and maintainability of the automated scripts. You’ll also own the administration of test tools and integration required to support the automation strategic roadmap. Reporting to the Senior Director of Quality Engineering, you’ll provide technical leadership, strategy, mentorship, and hands-on training to our QA team. And working with cross-functional technology leaders, you will assist in the definition of measurable metrics and build out of our automation reporting statistics and dashboards.

Why We’ll Love You:

You have 3+ years of hands-on experience in SDET (Software Developer in Test), as well as previous experience building a comprehensive automation framework and contributing to the growth of this initiative. Your commitment to high quality standards and your impeccable attention to details shine through your strong diagnostic, analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. You have development experience in Python and Javascript and experience with CI/CD pipeline. Ideally you have a familiarity working in an Agile methodology. On top of your technical skills, you’re a natural self-starter with a knack for communicating and translating key technical messages across a variety of audiences.
