We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to focus on building out the data infrastructure and platform tools to support Freshly’s analytics and data science functions. You will need to make data model and infrastructure design decisions that will prove fast and scalable for everything data-related from reporting to machine learning.

About You:

• Expert SQL knowledge: Ability to write complex queries/procedures to extract insights from relational databases, tuning queries, and databases
• Designing reporting and warehouse schemas (Cubes, OLTP and OLAP make total sense to you)
• Building and maintaining scalable ETL processes (e.g. Pentaho, Informatica, SSIS)
• Exposure to one or more columnar storage systems (e.g. Redshift, Vertica)
• Strong scripting skills (e.g. Python, Unix Shell)
• Strong understanding of infrastructure tools (Should we use BigQuery or Redshift? Why?)
• Prior experience with one or more of BI/reporting tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, etc.)
• Experience integrating with 3rd party systems using APIs
• Experience deploying machine learning algorithms in a production environment
• Experience leading infrastructure projects with small teams
• Interest in data analytics, data science, and all things data related
• Experience building resilient systems that handle large volumes of data, concurrent processes, with high uptime, alerting, etc.

• R or Python statistical programming
• Basic knowledge about statistics
• Previous subscription/ecommerce experience
