We are looking for a self-motivated Lead Security Engineer to help us meet our compliance and in-house information security standards. While this is largely a “blue team” role, experience with pentesting and other ethical hacking are a major plus. What you'll do:

• Develop and deliver software that helps to alleviate the financial stress of living paycheck-to-paycheck
• Introduce, improve, and evangelize security best practices and processes across our entire organization
• Serve as the subject matter expert for security monitoring, emerging threats, and control mechanisms
• Identify security breaches and violations of information security policy, drive mitigation and remediation processes with internal and external parties
• Write code, implement processes, and deploy tools to help keep our user data and our systems safe from bad actors 
• Define and participate in the adoption of best practices and process improvements
• Collaborate with, mentor, and learn from other engineers and members of the Flex team

Who you are:

• An expert in the craft of Security Engineering
• You have 5+ years of experience as a professional software engineer
• You have experience with SOC2 compliance and implementing security frameworks
• Experience working as a Security Engineer for cloud-hosted services
• Skilled in articulating security trade-offs, security risks, and their potential impact in a manner that will resonate with engineers and non-engineers
• You strive to find simple solutions to complex problems
• You are mission-driven, ideally aligned with our mission to improve access to effective financial products for people who need it most
• You are naturally curious and enjoy not only learning, but also mentoring others
