Seeking Lead Software Developer to Support Luxury Automotive Solutions

Position to be stationed in Montvale, NJ, working closely with colleagues in NJ and Germany. 

Full-time based employment with competitive NYC market rates and benefits.

 

Who You Are: Sulzer US is looking for a lead software developer to design and develop various web applications for clients and proprietary productsYou will work collaboratively with a team of software developers and project managers to analyze user requirements and design, coordinatesupervise, and contribute to the development of software applicationsAs a leader, you will have the opportunity to manage and grow a team of passionate technologists. With a hunger for all things tech, you will bring an open mind to learning new things as well as a fresh perspective. 

 

What you bring to the team: 

  • Fluency with backend programming languages such as Java/JEE and Python. 
  • Experience with frontend programming languages such as Typescript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS is a plus. 
  • Working knowledge of modern frameworks such as Spring Boot, React, and Angular. 
  • Proficiency in databases such as MongoDB and SQL. 
  • Sound knowledge of software design principles, such as microservices and SOAs. 
  • Experience in all stages of the SDLC. 
  • Experience interfacing with APIs. 
  • A solid understanding of algorithms and data structure. 
  • Ability to use critical thinking and sound judgement. 
  • Interest in working with cloud computing platforms, experience is a plus. 
  • Ability to manage team resourcing and project planning. 
  • Working knowledge of industry trends and technologies. 
  • Great communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Prior experience as a manager/technical lead is a plus, but not required for success.  


Within Your First Month You’ll: 

  • Learn about Sulzer US, our business model, and product and service offerings with our on-boarding program. 
  • Ramp up on our technology stack and specific projects through manager and peer-led training sessions.
  • Contribute to on-going or new project. 
  • Lead team planning with assistance of your manager, when needed. 
  • Quickly establish yourself as a leader among your direct reports. 
  • Meet with clients and internal teams to start building rapport. 

 

Within 3 Months, You’ll 

  • Take over leadership of your internal team through conducting regular 1-1s and team meetings. 
  • Work collaboratively with your manager to identify areas for personal growth and create a development plan. 
  • Feel comfortable navigating our tech stack and continuously leverage your team members to help fill in any gaps of understanding. 
  • Contribute ideas, ask questions, and raise concerns when encountering challenges. 

 

Within 6 Months You’ll: 

  • Proactively manage projects to scope while meeting Sulzer US’ quality standards and contributing new ideas. 
  • Scope new project work based on client requirements. 
  • Work closely with the hiring team by participating in the interview and hiring process to help our team continue to grow. 

 

Within Your First Year You’ll: 

  • Create trusting relationships with our clients, further solidifying Sulzer US as a key client partner. 
  • Exhibit a deep understanding of all aspects the systems and projects that you work on. 
  • Collaborate extensively with project managers and your team to define priorities, set goals, and deliver quality work. 
  • Contribute to the architecture of projects ensuring that decisions are in line with user requirements and best practices. 
  • Proactively provide and implement recommendations to improve the quality and stability of our applications. 
  • Define and identify professional development opportunities for our team through coaching and mentoring so that all team members have a defined career path. 
  • Contribute to Sulzer US’ continuous improvement initiative by bringing fresh ideas and the energy to bring our team to the next level.
