About the Role

You will be the lead engineer out of our HQ in Brooklyn, NY building out a national marketplace in the pet space. You're self motivated, love the early stage aspects of a business and can roll up your sleeves on the consumer application (responsive web app) , internal tools (web based), and our supply side application (react native).

We are funded ($1.4M) and have our MVP built with scalability in mind-- we're looking for someone to join our small team in the early stages and be a thought partner in how we continue to grow. 

What you'll do

• Work with our current senior engineers (contractors) to push our v1 over the finish line.

• Build and ship our platform currently built on top of react and django frameworks.

• Develop and maintain a growing repository of microservices serving a range of front-end applications and devices, both internal and public-facing.

What you'll need

• B.S. in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent 

• 6+ years of software development experience, marketplace experience a strong plus

• Expert knowledge coding in JavaScript (ES6)and/or Python, React Native experience a plus.

• Strong experience with web application frameworks and API development with an eye to REST fidelity, performance, security and event-sourced microservice development (reactive programming)

• Comfortable working across the stack including backend (Django), front-end (React), mobile (React Native), etc.

• Experience and comfort with managing production infrastructure running on AWS & Docker, either directly or using a PaaS such as Convox.

• Expert knowledge in working with database platforms

• Previous entrepreneurial venture or early stage start-up experience
