An Insider's view of RubyApps

What are some social events your company does?

We have a busy social calendar at RubyApps. We host happy hours, game nights, and movie nights.

We celebrate team member birthdays, when honorees can choose the dessert of their choice, and we also go on companywide outings. This year we went on a scavenger hunt, but we've also gone axe throwing and on a sunset cruise.

Michele

Operations Manager

What does your typical day look like?

As a project team lead, my primary role is to facilitate conversations—both internally and externally—and to act as a conduit between the client, our design partners, and the engineering team.

To be effective in my role, I approach each conversation by first asking, "How can I provide value,” and “Why should my counterpart care?"

Julie

Senior Project Team Lead

How do you make yourself accessible to the rest of the team?

Having an open and honest relationship with our employees is important to me. Given the different ways our team members like to communicate, I provide options that meet their styles: I keep an open door policy, I schedule office hours, I conduct weekly 1:1s with direct reports, and I host informal roundtable talks with small groups.

Jaron

What does career growth look like on your team?

Some of the most exciting opportunities at RubyApps right now are for candidates with sales and marketing backgrounds. We have an ambitious plan, and we're seeking motivated people that love our platform and want to help us bring it to an expanding TAM. In terms of career growth, it's a fast-moving, steep curve with virtually no ceiling (yet).
