Manager, Software Engineering - Map Rendering NYC

We’re looking for a Map Rendering Engineering Manager to join Team Snapchat! Working from our New York office, you will be leading a team to build 3D engines and advanced algorithms utilizing cutting edge capabilities of modern mobile GPUs. You’ll collaborate with designers, engineers, and program managers to push the limits and create new AR experiences.
What you’ll do:
Drive the technical and organizational roadmap for the engineering team
Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams distributed across multiple locations
Build and grow a team of exceptional software engineers and technical leaders
Influence key decisions on architecture and implementation of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions Iterate quickly without compromising quality and raise the bar on operational excellence
Collaborate with rendering and core engineers to create a map rendering engine with immersive game-like effects
Research advanced rendering effects to adopt for mobile GPUs to perform as fast as possible
Pioneer new methods to connect 2D maps and the 3D maps of the future
Develop new rendering materials and methods for the 3D artists team to achieve the best visuals on the mobile market
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience
5+ years of software engineering experience 4+ years of experience managing a team
Someone who loves to learn, and is passionate about helping others
Experience with mobile apps and/or databases
MS degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience working with distributed systems
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field
Strong skills in 3D math, trigonometry
3+ years of 3D engines/shaders/techs development experience
Proven knowledge of software and hardware rendering pipeline (Mobile, Console or PC)
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
Experience with OpenGL, Metal, Vulcan, DirectX APIs
Experience with GLSL, MSL, HLSL, Compute shaders
Experience in optimization for mobile/console GPUs
Experience in creating rendering engines
Experience in creating unique/custom VFX algorithms/approaches
Experience with PBR
Personal 3D rendering related projects
