We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering manager to join our Creative tools team at Snapchat! Our team is responsible for editing frameworks, stickers, giphy, bitmoji, filters, and music experience in the Snapchat app. These tools inspire creativity and self-expression for users communicating with their friends and community. The scale at which we operate is pretty large, given billions of our tools are used every day in most user stories, snaps, chats, and our Spotlight broadcast feature. Working from our Los Angeles, Mountain View or San Franciso office, you will lead a group of software developers creating the next generation of Creative tools delivery platform at Snap.
What You’ll Do:
Set the strategy, build a roadmap, create aligned OKRs and lead your team to deliver.
Define clear success metrics for the team as a whole and for team members individually
Partner cross-functionally with Product, Data Science and Engineering teams at Snap in order to align and deliver product milestones
Influence key decisions on architecture and implementation of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions
Iterate quickly without compromising quality and raise the bar on operational excellence
Manage and grow a team of great developers, in a fast-paced, quick-to-market environment
Create growth opportunities, measure impact of the team, set clear expectations and goals, give regular feedback, promote talent, manage performance issues
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience
8+ years of experience working in software engineering
2+ years of experience leading or managing teams of high performing software engineers
Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of a company
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience partnering with cross-functional executives and management across a globally distributed organization and exercising sound judgment
Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments
Deep knowledge of and experience working with a diverse group of engineers
Experience with shipping user-facing systems, especially at a large scale
Someone who loves to learn, and is passionate about helping others
Experience with at least one of the following: large-scale microservices and distributed systems, cloud computing and storage systems, or infrastructure and large-scale system design.
