ABOUT TODAYTIX
TodayTix’s mobile-only ticketing app launched in December 2013 to connect global audiences to the $50 billion global live entertainment business. The app sells last-minute (week-of and day-of) tickets to the complete offering of Broadway and premium theater productions at every price point from premium orchestra seats to discount balcony seats.
We have quickly grown to a team of about 35 full-time employees. After initial seed capital from top executives in the entertainment and tech industries, we recently completed a healthy Series-A round of financing to fund our global expansion.
We're seeking highly motivated team members to join us in disrupting an old supply chain model, to broaden access to theater, and expand the theatergoing audience.

Our technology team is driven, opinionated, and committed to customer experience. We believe that writing code can be as expressive a form of communication as theater itself.

We believe in using the right tool for the job, rather than adhering to any given platform -- our production systems run Python, Java, PHP, Groovy, and R; we use MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, and S3 as backing services; and we rely on Nginx, Tomcat, and Apache to route traffic and serve requests.

We are expanding our platform and seek engineers with a strong commitment to stability, quality, elegance, and getting things right. This is not a “go-to-your-cubicle” workplace, but rather a dynamic environment with active cross-team communication and collaborative problem solving.

PLATFORM SOFTWARE ENGINEER
We are looking for an experienced full stack software engineer to join our world-class team of technologists. You will build and maintain the services that power the global TodayTix platform, participate in tech design discussions and our culture of constructive code review, and have the opportunity to contribute production code across our stack.

About you:

• You’re fluent in more than one production language (e.g., Java, Python, Ruby) and are deeply familiar with web standards (HTTP, JSON, XML, etc).
• You love to learn as much as we, and do so voraciously.
• You take pleasure in writing simple, comprehensible, and maintainable code for others to enjoy.
• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• You make data-driven development decisions -- e.g., using monitoring tools, analytics, A/B testing, and profiling.
• Have worked with relational databases through raw SQL and have experience using non-relational persistence (MongoDB, Redis, ElasticSearch)
• You thrive in a *nix environment and grok its toolkit.

• You understand that the best solutions to technology problems often lie outside the codebase.
• You believe in YAGNI, DRY, and KISS rather than premature optimization, and refactor mercilessly.
• You’ve used forward proxies with caching layers and can contribute expertise as we integrate with third party inventory providers.
• You have experience with AWS (EC2, RDS, Elasticache) and/or Ansible provisioning.
