We’re shaping the way companies manage data by helping customers connect the right data, insights, and algorithms for all Data Citizens. When everyone across the organization is enabled with data, true transformation can take place. We are building a team of exceptional people to help us deliver on that promise. If you are interested in a career at the leading edge of technology, we look forward to hearing from you.

How you'll make an impact at Collibra:

Collibra is looking for a Software Engineer with deep expertise in federated querying, MPP Databases, or closely related domains, to join the Virtualization team. The Virtualization team is a new team to Collibra responsible for developing cutting-edge new products leveraging Collibra’s world-class Data Intelligence platform. This candidate will exercise wide latitude in determining strategies, objectives, and approaches to critical assignments and will be responsible for fostering healthy relationships across Collibra to ensure successful execution as our products are expected to generate revenue and bring new, innovative capabilities to the market.

The ideal candidate must be strategic in their thinking but also “hands-on” demonstrating the ability to dive deep into code and implement complex systems where necessary. You will be working with a diverse, geographically distributed, talented, and highly collaborative team.

A day in the life of a Java Engineer at Collibra:

You’ll be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Leveraging your expertise to design and implement (with other engineers following your lead) a data virtualization layer for Collibra
  • Taking full ownership for designing and implementing a broad, comprehensive technical strategy focused on access, performance, scalability, and security for retrieving data throughout the enterprise in a SaaS environment
  • Partnering closely with Product Management and Marketing to set product strategy and conveying estimates of effort for agilely implementing complex solutions
  • Ensuring the team has clarity on project requirements, building effective technical project roadmaps and plans, and shiping high-quality products
  • Creating formal networks with key decision makers and serve as an external spokesperson for the organization
  • Implementing prototypes of features that accelerate the value of Collibra for customers that can be used and productionalized by others
  • Managing and working with complex dependencies between different teams and products to ensure alignment, product quality, and vision are in a class of their own

You Have:

  • 10+ years Java development experience
  • Excellent communication skills to interact and collaborate with other Engineering teams, Product Management, customers, and at community events and trade shows
  • Expert SQL and data processing skills
  • Deep experience with at least one distributed database technology: MPP query engine internals (Impala, Teradata, etc.) as well as federated query engines such as Presto, Tibco Virtualization Server, or Denodo
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems programming
  • Strong understanding of container and container orchestration technology (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • SaaS experience
  • Comfortable with a fast pace environment with competing priorities and ability to remain focused and confident

Strong plus:

  • MDM experience
  • Previous experience working on geographically distributed teams

We Offer:

  • A friendly, rapidly growing environment where your input will be valued and growth is fostered
  • Ongoing opportunities to collaborate with fellow Collibrians globally
  • Flexible hours = quality > quantity
  • Unlimited Vacation
  • A monthly allowance for your mobile
  • A state-of-the-art laptop for work
  • And of course, competitive benefits, compensation and equity.
