Product Engineer
About Radar
Radar is the location context platform. Our mission is to make every app on every device contextually aware. Radar processes 100B+ locations per year from 100M+ devices worldwide. In April 2018, TechCrunch named us a top 12 up-and-coming enterprise startup in NYC.
Our team has backgrounds at companies like Foursquare and Facebook. We are backed by Accel, Expa, Fuel Capital, and great angels including Greg Brockman (previously CTO at Stripe) and Michael Katz (CEO at mParticle).
We're based in DUMBO, Brooklyn, New York City.
About the role
We're looking for Product Engineers to build out customer facing infrastructure. Since implementing a new customer facing feature will often touch all parts of our stack, our Product Engineers end up working in the front-end, backend, iOS / Android SDKs, and data engineering. We find this mode of working to be more interesting, higher impact and faster than staying siloed in 1-2 stacks. We think of it as a “multi stack engineer”. You don’t need to be an expert in all of these, but it certainly helps to have deep understanding in 1-2 areas. What’s more important is that you’re interested in learning new things. You will find that your teammates will have deep knowledge in areas that you don’t and will help you learn. You'll face interesting product design and scaling challenges, working in a very small team.
You will report to our CTO.
What you’ll do:
- Work on the Radar application built with TypeScript, ES6, Node.js, Next.js, MongoDB, Redis, S3, Redshift, Athena, Spark, Scala, Kotlin, Swift, and Objective-C
- Learn new layers of the stack you’re less familiar with
- Build customer facing features across multiple layers of the application
- “Keep it Simple” by continuously searching for solutions that have 80% of the impact, but 20% of the cost
You have:
- 3+ years of engineering experience
- The belief that small teams could do great things!
- Your own unique talents – we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all the qualifications
You’ll work with:
- Our executive team: Nick (CEO) and Tim (CTO)
- Our Software Engineering team!
- Beryl Wang, Product Designer
Perks:
- Great compensation package and equity plan
- Medical, dental, and vision plans with 100% premiums covered for you
- Weekly catered lunch and snacks
- 401(k) plan with employer match
- Flexible work hours and vacation policy
- Pre-tax commuter benefits
- Free CitiBike membership
- Monthly fitness reimbursement
