THE STORY

Like most guys, we just want getting dressed to be easy. But somewhere along the way things got complicated. Nothing seemed to fit quite right, quality was lacking and shopping was a painful exercise of trial and error. There were somehow way too many options, or none. And whenever we did find something we liked, we knew it would be a little different the next time we looked. So we decided to fix that.

We started with underwear and socks, things that could make you more comfortable every single day. Since then, we’ve gone on to reinvent other essentials that didn’t meet our standards for comfort, performance, quality, or design. If you only need one version of it, we only make the best possible version—and once we get it right, we don’t change a thing.

THE ROLE

Mack Weldon is reinventing men’s basics with a focus on smart design, innovative fabrics, and simple shopping. As a QA Engineer at Mack Weldon you will join the engineering team and help us ship outstanding e-commerce and other digital experiences. You will be responsible for maintaining our overall software quality through automation, a good build process, and manual oversight. You will be on the front lines, discovering issues before our customers do, reacting quickly and decisively when things slip past our safety nets. This is a cross functional role as you will develop a deep understanding for our business, it’s technical infrastructure, and work directly with our engineering, product, merchandising, marketing, and operations teams.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • QA - Some things require the human touch. You will deploy and check builds to ensure they meet our functional and quality requirements before allowing them to be put in front of our customers.
  • Automate - When you find yourself doing manual things you will automate them. Reduce the risk of error throughout our pipeline with cohesive test automation and scripting.
  • Build - Work closely with the engineering team to ensure that our build process is streamlined and efficient, analyze runtime, observe trends, and bring new ideas to the table that help us support our goal of shipping quality software to our customers.
  • Release - Deploy new builds into the wild. Let people know what’s going out and when and coordinate any necessary cross-functional concerns.
  • Monitor - Be proactive and ahead of issues before they become problems. Observe dashboards, run technical reports, view application logs, and always have a finger on the pulse of our applications. We should know about issues before our customers do.
  • Delegate - Intercept inbound reports, evaluate their impact, and get the right information in front of the right people, at the right time.

WHAT WILL SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS:

  • At least 2 years experience working in a technical QA role, with a focus on web and mobile experiences. Prior involvement in e-commerce is a plus.
  • Experience writing well documented and cohesive test automations.
  • Familiar testing web and mobile applications.
  • Familiar with continuous integration and deployment concepts.
  • Comfortable with some light coding in any language.
  • Not afraid of the command line or light bash scripting.
  • You can work with SQL and relational databases.
  • You know how websites work at a high level.
  • You know what the common pain points of software delivery are.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Someone who has excellent verbal and written communication skills (tech and non-tech) technical.
  • Someone who cares deeply about not only the quality of their own work but the overall quality in which we subscribe to as a team and organization.
  • A team player who can understand requirements from across various functions and work together toward shared goals.
  • Observant and analytical. You aren’t afraid of deep dives and want to understand exactly why things are the way they are.

WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL

  • We give a shit! - We care. We’re slightly obsessive. We sweat every detail. We fight for what we think is best for Mack Weldon and our customers.
  • We put our money where our mouth is - We own our words. We own our actions. We own our mistakes.
  • We solve problems - You won’t find us waiting around for someone else to fix a problem, if we can get our hands on it first.
  • We won’t sacrifice the future for a quick win - We wait for the second marshmallow.
  • It’s all about the people! - Relationships over transactions.
