QA Lead

 

Atomic Software, a Brooklyn based software development consultancy, is currently seeking a full time QA Lead to develop, document, communicate and execute effective test plans for multiple teacher-facing software products.  You will be working with small teams of talented developers, product owners and designers on applications that inspire and empower teachers and their students by providing them with dynamic tools to unleash the potential of their students.  


 

About this role:

 

In this role, you will be expected to draw on your professional experience to drive the creation and execution of successful, creative and effective test plans that provide relevant and timely information.  Those reports will dive deeply into every detail of a product in order to provide consistent, well organized, data driven reports on an ongoing basis for multiple projects.  Your experience as a user of technology should inform your understanding of a user's needs, applying it to this crucial aspect of product development, thoroughly testing pieces of work for functionality, security, accessibility and performance.  In order to be successful, you must possess and demonstrate a deep understanding of “the why” of software applications and web development, feature requirements, functionality and accessibility.  



 

We are looking for someone whose background / experience includes:

 

  • Security and accessibility testing 

  • Test strategy and  test plan development

  • Basic understanding of UX and design principles 

  • Foundational experience with software development

  • At minimum, 2 years professional experience testing web applications

  • Thorough understanding of modern testing principles and rapid software testing methodologies

 

The basic responsibilities of this role include (but may not be limited to):

  •   Create, document, execute and maintain test plans and test cases

  •   Execute application front end and back end testing

  •   Report software defects and bugs using JIRA Software

  •   Lead collaboration with developers to investigate and take initiative finding the root cause of application bugs 

  •   Attend and contribute to daily stand up meetings and bi-weekly planning meetings

  •   Create and maintain excel (or similar) files to upload to the team’s shared drive

The basic technical requirements in order to do this job include (but may not be limited to):

  •   Experience building and executing both automated and manual test cases on a web application

  •   Demonstrable experience writing test plans / test cases

  •   Thorough knowledge of  SDLC Agile methodology

  •   Experience working with business requirements to understand an applications functionality

  •   Experience with current web application accessibility best practices

  •   Familiarity with SQL databases

  •   Solid experience using Excel / google sheets

  •   Comfortable reading formatted data (specifically JSON) 

  •   Familiarity with REST API documentation tools (eg: Swagger UI)

  •   Excellent writing skills

  •   Excellent communication skills
