The Role:

As a QA engineer at Newsela, you'll be tasked with ensuring that the software we deliver to our end users meets top standards of quality and reliability. You'll work directly with a product owner and engineering team to own the test cases for a given set of functionality, and assist colleagues in non-technical departments with not only understanding how those areas are supposed to function, but also contribute to the ideation, iteration, and on-going development of existing and new functionality.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

You'll be able to own quality assurance for a large slice of Newsela's surface area, while still retaining some breadth-first ability to explore and discover other parts of our applications. You'll also have the opportunity to branch into other disciplines, such as automation, as part of the role. Your work will directly enable teachers and students to use Newsela’s platform seamlessly and effectively in the classroom and remotely, ultimately helping improve the learning experience of K-12 students around the U.S. And because we're a technology company focused on improving the way students learn, you’ll be part of an engineering culture that values teaching, learning, and questioning.

Why We’ll Love You:

You have 3+ years experience in quality assurance, and possess a strong understanding of the landscape of quality assurance, including regression testing, visual testing, and accessibility testing. You have demonstrated skills in documenting technical features for both product and engineering audiences, and are adept in assisting your teammates in their own documentation. You are also able to self-organize testing work within a product team with limited direction. You love organization and communication and are happiest when those around you are well informed; you can translate and explain technical problems and solutions to non-technical staff and end-users. You see areas lacking clarity as a challenge to be surmounted with documentation and good practice. You always put the user first before all

About Newsela:

One of the fastest growing tech companies in K-12 education, Newsela was founded on the principle that while every child may have unique learning preferences, they all deserve a rich learning experience that ignites a love of learning.
