A Proper High is seeking a mid-level (3 years-ish) Ruby on Rails developer to help build, maintain, and expand our media and e-commerce properties.

Front end experience is preferred: We use Vue when a client side framework is necessary and plain Javascript when it’s not. We use Docker and deploy to AWS.

Our Rails app supports online shopping, rich content creation by the content team, a range of cannabis review management tools and consumer apps, integration with various e-commerce partners, and delivery and fulfillment support. 

A major expansion in e-commerce capabilities (accounts, checkout, order tracking with delivery partners) is happening now.

You should have experience working with a team of developers and designers on consumer facing products or media properties. Proper’s websites and apps are mobile-first, responsive, and powered by Rails. While designs are ultimately delivered via Sketch from a detail oriented team of passionate designers, there is plenty of room for tech to contribute to UX and functionality. Should be pragmatic about technologies used and always looking for opportunities for efficiency and to avoid re-inventing the wheel.

Lastly, should be passionate about the future of weed, and want to directly influence the rapidly transitioning cannabis market by working with one of the most talented teams in the space.

The company is headquartered in LA, with devs located in Brooklyn and Boston. 

This job is mainly remote but may also include some in-person working time at a local co-working space.
