Sales Engineer

| Greater NYC Area

Handshake's mission is to help manufacturers and distributors grow their business by making it easy for their customers order the right products from them in-person and online. The software we build provides our customers with a commerce platform that replaces the antiquated paper-and-clipboard-based systems used by brands and their salespeople, allowing for more products to reach more retailers with less cost, at greater speed and with less environmental impact.

The Sales Engineer is the primary technical resource for the Handshake sales team. The Sales Engineer is responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and advocate for our products. The Sales Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users. The Sales Engineer must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Sales Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support Account Executives in discovery and qualification calls
  • Develop and deliver product demonstrations
  • Act as technical point of contact for prospects during the sales cycle
  • Work with Customer Success team to identify and support customer relationship expansion/extension opportunities
  • Ensure smooth transition from Sales to Customer Success
  • Be “the” Subject Matter Expert in integrations and the wholesale business
  • Lead product and industry training for Sales and Customer Success
  • Act as feedback conduit to the product team, inform product development and improvement (able to convey customer requirements to Product Management team)
  • Support SVP Sales and Customer Success in assessment of pipeline and forecast

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Self-motivated with a proven track record in software sales and knowledge of technology
  • 3 to 5 years experience as a sales engineer at an enterprise software vendor (preferably ERP or CRM)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, graduate degree preferred
  • Comfortable in Handshake’s dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports 
  • Organized and analytical, and able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
  • Understanding of concepts such as invoicing, customer recorders, order fulfillment, inventory and pricing
  • Knowledge of integration concepts and techniques between disparate software and SaaS program
  • Demonstrated understanding of SaaS business economics and business drivers 
  • Track record of supporting teams who achieve and surpass goals
  • Experience in the wholesale, supply chain, and fulfillment operations
