The Role:

The Salesforce Developer owns all things related to our Salesforce platform, and will act as a thought leader and expert in maximizing the effectiveness of the CRM within the organization. Reporting to the Salesforce Development Manager, you will play a key role in executing initiatives directly tied to the development, design, and implementation of Salesforce. Working with Business Analysts, Project Managers, Sales Ops, Marketing, Product, and Finance, you’ll build customized solutions in Visualforce, Apex, Lightning components, and other technologies that support team needs and drive key business decisions. You will also help architect a clear plan for enhancements to our current sales cloud, and implement strategies to align and standardize all department processes in Salesforce.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

As a member of our growing Customer Optimization team, you’ll get to help define, communicate, develop, and release new applications/code and updates to existing applications/code. You will be a lead influencer in designing and developing the technical tools that our sales team uses to grow their books of business. Your work will enable our sales and customer success teams to expand Newsela’s reach, and ultimately get engaging, culturally responsive learning content into the hands of K-12 students and teachers nation-wide.

Why We’ll Love You:

With 2+ years experience developing custom solutions on the Salesforce.com platform, you have demonstrated proficiency in custom objects, workflow and validation rules, email templates, formulas, dashboards and reporting, and Sandbox-to-Production processes. You’ve worked with Salesforce CPQ in the past, and can leverage your knowledge of Apex , VisualForce pages, Lightning components, SOQL and APIs to build solutions that meet team and business needs. You also have a passion for data structures, data modeling and database schemas, and have some basic knowledge of using SQL. Bonus points if you have familiarity with Service Cloud, Snowflake, and Lightning.

About Newsela:

One of the fastest growing tech companies in K-12 education, Newsela was founded on the principle that while every child learns differently, they all deserve a rich learning experience that ignites a love of learning. We built our platform based on learning science research to deliver the most engaging, authentic content to modernize how teaching happens in the classroom. Along with interactive assessments and tools, we provide teachers with digital content at five reading levels -- from +100 of the best sources -- that is relevant to the diverse backgrounds and interests of their students. Since we started in 2013, we’ve established a presence in 90% of U.S. K-12 schools and over 2.5M teachers and 37M students have registered with Newsela.
