Senior Backend Engineer - Device Management at Peloton
In the role of Senior Backend Engineer Device Management, you will be architecting and building functionality to power our device management tooling. This ranges from pushing out software releases to provide methods to interact with our devices to help developers and member support troubleshoot issues. As this API talks to several systems, architecting simple solutions for complex communications is a high priority.
The REST API is built in kotlin using spring boot framework with the data layer in sql and a variety of AWS services.
The Device Management team operates similarly to a startup within Peloton. We have the autonomy to propose what technologies we want to use, as well as give input into our own roadmap. We are a cross functional team that includes web and android developers. This is a backend specific role, but if you have any interest in learning other parts of the stack, you can definitely learn and contribute.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent years of work experience
- 5+ years of of related experience
- 3+ years experience building REST API services
- 3+ years of AWS or other cloud services development experience2+ years architecting API solutions1+ years of spring boot experience
- Solid experience with Git
- Solid experience with junit/mockito
- Solid experience with load testing
- Continuous build experience in an Agile Environment
- Ability to effectively translate Product requirements into code implementations
- Ability to accomplish complex engineering task independently
- Ability to manage complex cross-team coordinations and work closely with other developers
- Ability to evaluate and communicate different engineering solutions and trade-offs
