We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team in Brooklyn. In this role, you will collaborate with other engineers and product managers to architect and develop solutions that give our end users an optimal experience. You will play a critical role in scaling infrastructure, optimizing data aggregation, and providing well-architected APIs. You’ll work closely with other backend engineers and assist in establishing best practices and processes across the department.

 Your Responsibilities & Impact

• Work closely with product managers, web frontend engineers and native mobile engineers to architect solutions and build clean, optimized APIs
• Work with our DevOps team to ensure high performance and uptime for Prolific applications
• Pair program with other engineers for support and ideation
• Participate in peer code review process
• Assess business and product requirements and propose sound technical solutions
• Take part in discussions about processes, standards and the future direction of the backend engineering team at Prolific. Make impactful decisions!

 Your Skills & Experience

• 3-5 years working in production environments with Node.js, Python, Ruby, Go, or similar language
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills
• Significant experience architecting, implementing and documenting APIs adhering to REST standards
• Experience with and knowledge of software testing strategies
• Knowledge of scaling system architecture and identifying common performance bottlenecks
• Experience using Git as source control
• Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or Postgres
• Computer Science degree or equivalent experience

• If you have experience working with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform to generate infrastructure in AWS or other environments
• If you’re comfortable debugging/resolving infrastructure specific issues and building DevOps tools, deployment pipelines, CI/CD, etc.
• If you have an Interest in new technologies / architectures such as GraphQL
• If you have experience with HTML5 and CSS3 web standards
• If you have knowledge of web libraries and frameworks, such as React, AngularJS, Backbone, etc.
