We are looking for a candidate who has strong experience with DevOps, microservices and containers to help scale our platform to new heights while maintaining best practices for security and reliability. Even’s traffic has tripled over the last year and we are looking to scale by orders of magnitude in the coming years. You will be a senior member of a team owning the quality of the DevOps architecture and systems, mentoring junior engineers while being a valued member of a fast growing, dynamic team. As a member of the DevOps team you will have numerous opportunities to liaison with the broader Engineering team to apply automation and scaling improvements throughout the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve a micro service infrastructure that follows AWS best practices using Terraform
• Develop the next generation of our platform using Kubernetes with modern tooling
• Triage, fix, and remediate production infrastructure issues & participate in on-call rotations
• Help team implement and adhere to best practices for security
• Improve CI/CD solutions within Even and extend them for DevOps
• Mentor junior members of the DevOps team
• Write and provide feedback on RFCs for new features in our collaborative design process
• Write and produce documentation on existing & new systems in a readable, maintainable manner
• Review team work with an emphasis on readability, maintainability, and team standards

Qualifications:

• Should be comfortable writing code and scripts in at least one programming language
• Experience with Kubernetes & Kubernetes ecosystems
• Significant experience (6+ years) maintaining user-facing microservice production systems in AWS using containers hosted in either ECS or EKS
• Experience working in compliant environments (PCI, SOC2, NIST) and dealing with compliance requirements, overall security posture and strategy
• Experience maintaining and architecting systems using Terraform
• Experience with building and maintaining monitoring systems (e.g. Grafana/InfluxDB, Nagios, DataDog, CloudWatch, New Relic etc.)
• Experience building tools for automation (building, testing, releasing, monitoring and alarming)
• Experience with continuous integration systems (Jenkins, CircleCI)
• Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, Firewalls, routing, traffic shaping, and load balancing, in particular AWS VPC, VPC peering & routing)
• Experience with Docker and Docker ecosystems, especially as it relates to developer experience
• Experience maintaining Linux and Linux-based systems
