ABOUT THE ROLE:
At Resy, we are tackling the toughest challenges in an industry that everyone loves, hospitality. We hold ourselves to the highest standard in delivering elegant technology fueling exceptional experiences for both our restaurant operators and diner alike. As Senior Engineering Manager (Backend), you will be a key engineering leader within Resy’s 10+ person backend engineering team. We are seeking a player-coach, who is just as excited about managing a highly performant team as much as rolling up their sleeves and contributing to high impact projects. In this role you will mentor and growing the engineers on your team while also delving into the roots Resy’s codebase in order to lead architecture decisions, uphold strong coding standards, and drive project execution.
The ideal candidate is fundamentally a strong engineer who is able to collaborate very closely with product counterparts to lead their team from concept to delivery. You thrive in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment, you are a collaborator and an innovator, and you are excited about what technology is doing for the hospitality industry.
WHO YOU ARE:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience
1+ years of experience managing engineering leaders.
5+ years of experience working as a Software Engineer, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment.
You will be splitting your time between team management and architectural planning / individual contribution roughly 60-40.
You take pride in driving a high velocity team with laser focus on strong code quality standards, reliability, and maintainability.
You are excited by conducting inclusive architecture design discussions and take a weighted approach when making strategic decisions.
You have had a strong track record of hiring and scaling a team to meet the evolving demands of the business.
You are comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders outside the Engineering team including Product, Sales, Marketing, and Account Management teams.
You have led agile software teams in the past.
You have strong expertise with the following:
Python / Ruby / PHP
RDBMS and database design
Implementing and building APIs
BIG PLUS IF YOU HAVE:
SQL Performance tuning
AWS - EC2 / RDS / S3 / SQS
Kafka / Celery / Flask / Django / Supervisord / MongoDB
Jira / Clubhouse.io or other project management tool
