We're hiring a Senior Engineering Manager for the DevOps Team.

We're looking for a seasoned Sr. Engineering Manager, DevOps with a passion for team leadership and deep experience in systems architecture, security, infrastructure management, and CI/CD to manage our DevOps practice and team. You will design and build infrastructure to improve resiliency, reliability, security, and performance of our systems and products. You will also contribute to developer happiness on a lean, friendly, engineering team with a DevOps culture that values constant improvement, collaboration, and constructive feedback.
You're always thinking about security, scaling, and backups. You're always looking for a single point of failure. But you're also excited to work on internal tools that accelerate development, simplify operations, and enable all employees to contribute to our products. You are a great leader who inspires confidence, enjoys mentoring staff, and creating a culture in which your staff delivers their best work. You also enjoy being a hands-on contributor, writing code, and pushing the bounds of what's possible through ethical and inspired technology.
How you'll contribute to our mission

  • Hire, manage, motivate, and grow a team of DevOps professionals
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the Engineering organization to educate, evangelize and drive initiatives
  • Define a vision and quarterly roadmaps for the team
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, product, and data teams to deliver on company and department goals
  • Own the maintenance and extension of our CI/CD systems
  • Design new infrastructure patterns to support new features being developed
  • Regularly assess the health of architecture and systems and perform upgrades and improvements as needed
  • Work on internal tools to support operations
  • Proactively reduce infrastructure costs
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure
  • Resolve, mitigate and prevent system outages
  • Participate in software design reviews
  • Keep our data and system secure and reliable
  • Understand, identify, and evaluate the best partners and vendors in our space. Work with cross-functional teams to connect our vision with those partners
  • Define and model a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and accountability
  • Ensure we have appropriate documentation for our architecture, tools, systems, and procedures
  • Contribute directly to projects as needed
  • Partner with developers and stakeholders on incident investigations and post-mortems


You're ready for this! Here's a bit more about what we're looking for

  • 5+ years of experience leading DevOps teams in defining visions and strategies
  • 5+ years managing and operating SaaS applications in production environments
  • Experience with Terraform, or other methods of writing infrastructure as code
  • Experience with AWS services like EC2, RDS, IAM, SQS
  • Experience with database operations with Postgres
  • Experience with SSO technologies like Oauth2, SAML or LDAP
  • Working knowledge of software development and testing best practices
  • Experience setting up and building continuous integration and deployment solutions like CircleCI, Jenkins, TeamCity, Spinnaker, etc.
  • Deep proficiency with modern software engineering languages and frameworks, cloud computing platforms, and orchestration technologies
  • Ability to clearly communicate and lead discussions around strategy, architecture, and engineering principles
  • Strong experience in agile and test-driven methodologies
  • Exceptional understanding of modern securities

What about the office?
This is a full-time role with flexibility for remote work. At this time, our office remains closed but it is our goal to open as soon as it can be done safely. We are continuing to closely monitor the state of COVID-19 in NYC and will provide updates to our employees as soon as we have them available.
We will require COVID-19 vaccinations for anyone coming to our office. We are following CDC recommendations and will also require additional boosters, and will always follow CDC and NY state guidance on wearing masks in the office.
