Senior Full Stack Developer, Integrity
About Your Role:
Dotdash is looking for an experienced, full-stack, Senior Developer with a demonstrated track record of technical proficiency to join our Information Catalog CMS team. This team builds UIs and backends for knowledge graphs and databases of factual records -- such as product or medical databases -- which help power content at Dotdash.
You will have the opportunity to work on mission critical projects to augment the capabilities of our Information Catalog, including exploration of Graph Database integration to back the next generation of these tools, built on the latest in full-stack JavaScript technologies, atop a rock-solid in-house platform based on Node and Vue.
You’ll work in a user-centric and research-focused environment to solve complex problems and build out positive user experiences, interfaces, and services for distributed, multi-system applications. You’ll work with a highly-collaborative distributed team, and participate in a collegial engineering culture that values innovative thinking and technical excellence, while championing a foundational work/life balance.
About Your Contributions:
- Collaborate with a distributed, agile team of developers, product managers, QA, and designers to ensure applications and features meet business needs
- Drive technical progress on projects or feature builds to ensure our applications meet performance requirements, are well maintained, and use the best technologies to meet demands
- Architect and execute complex feature builds from start to finish including technical design, code-level implementation, and integration
- Use strong technical expertise to lead technical conversations with a willingness to defend rationale, participating in technical design, architecture, and code review processes
- Help surface, track, and address technical debt
About You:
- 4+ years in a frontend or backend engineering role, with 1+ years working as a full-stack engineer
- Ability to translate business and product requirements into technical approaches and concepts – and vice versa
- Good understanding of system design and architecture fundamentals
- Experience building APIs and REST-ful services; experience with GraphQL a plus but not required
- Demonstrated track record working with NodeJS/Express for backend services, or similar frameworks or backend technologies
- Experience with component-based client-side frameworks (Vue, React, Angular), as well as related build processes (Webpack, Grunt, Gulp)
- Expert-level competency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Comfortable using the tools of modern collaborative Agile+Scrum SDLC, including Git, Jira, planning poker, etc
