Proper is a modern sleep wellness company with a purpose. We’re on a mission to help Americans get better sleep, and better health, through a holistic and personalized approach grounded in science and data. 

Proper offers a line of Ph.D. developed, evidence-based natural sleep supplements, digital tools, and expert sleep coaching from board-certified health & wellness coaches.

Proper was launched in the summer of 2020 by an incredible founding team from some of the world’s most loved and respected tech, CPG, and healthcare brands. A world-class group of sleep scientists and physicians advises us from the Stanford School of Sleep Medicine, the Mayo Clinic, the Duke School of Medicine, and more.

As Proper’s Senior Full-Stack Javascript Engineer, you’ll build novel digital sleep tools that understands behaviors, collects and beautifully visualizes valuable data and insights, and personalizes the consumer journey to help users find their best path to better sleep.  You’ll use the best modern engineering and data technologies to code amazing experiences that deliver improved health and happiness.

Your Impact!

• We're looking for someone who can advance the development of resilient and performant digital sleep tools for customers and coaches to create enviable and effective mobile-first applications. We can't build this business without someone like you.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain our suite of mobile apps using react/react native/nextjs/gatsbyjs
• Develop APIs from our sleep & behavior tracking, coaching, e-commerce (Shopify) and subscription (ReCharge) platforms
• Bring wireframes to life as consistent, on-brand, performant, mobile-first responsive user-facing code
• Manage e-commerce analytics implementations with Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, ad platforms, marketing tech vendors, and system logs
• Quickly remove roadblocks to shipping and executing
• Inspire and support your team to drive meaningful results for the business

Experience You’ll Need

• Experience with web and mobile analytics, e-commerce analytics, SEO and other measurement best practices
• Solid UX / UI experience with the ability to consistently implement our existing designs system / style guide
• A builder, not a manager (yet).  We’re at the stage where everyone is rolling up the sleeves and getting deep in the details
• Pragmatism with technology with the ability to balance the needs of speed/iteration with resilience/scalability
• Someone okay to roll with the punches — as projects and priorities might shift
• Past experience in small, direct-to-consumer startup environments strongly preferred

Skills We'd Like to See

• 5+ years Javascript/Typescript experience
• Familiarity with nodejs and frameworks such as nestjs on the backend
• Familiarity with React/React Native is a plus
• Familiarity with JavaScript testing frameworks (Jest, React testing library)
• Strong collaboration desires and skills 
• Customer focus with an interest in using the products you build
• Resourcefulness that drives results
• Familiarity with mobile deployment tools is a plus
