Pager is hiring a remote Senior Software Engineer, Backend to develop backend solutions for our suite of mobile and web-based products. The ideal candidate's prior work experience reflects high standards for engineering with proven capabilities. The candidate possesses the ability to take on important business challenges and execute them with precision and quality. This position is remote and we’re accepting candidates from anywhere in North America.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build robust and scalable software using Javascript
• Analyze challenging problems and successfully deliver results
• Increase test coverage via unit tests and integration tests
• Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges.
• Work with the product and design teams to understand end-user requirements, formulate use cases, and then translate that into a pragmatic and effective technical solution

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• 6+ years of relevant industry experience with fluency in Javascript
• Bachelor’s Degree in CS/EE or equivalent experience
• Experience designing and deploying high performance systems with reliable monitoring and logging practices.
• Experience designing, building and operating robust distributed systems
• Working knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and query authoring (SQL/NoSQL).
• Excellent analytical and time management skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience with Node.js is preferred
• Experience with RabbitMQ / Kafka is a plus
• Experience with hapi.js is a plus
• Master's Degree in a STEM field is a plus
