Senior Software Engineer (Backend)
Attentive is a personalized mobile messaging platform changing the way consumers interact with businesses. Headquartered in New York City, the company recently emerged out of stealth to announce a $13 million Series A investment led by Bain Capital Ventures. Attentive was founded in 2016 by the co-founders of TapCommerce, the global leader in mobile app retargeting, acquired by Twitter in 2014.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our product development team. You will work cross-functionally with a product and engineering org that has deep technical and startup experience. Previously the team co-founded a company that was acquired for nine figures by a leading internet company. This is an opportunity to be on the ground with a small, high-performing founding team, building a category-defining product.
Responsibilities
- Develop new user-facing features
- Write and maintain back end routes and business logic
- Participate in design and scoping discussions with the engineering team
- Collaborate w/ product & design to validate the technical feasibility of product designs before development begins
- Translate UI/UX designs and product requirements to front end code
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Server-Side languages (Java, Scala, Python, etc)
- Understanding of JavaScript & web markup, including HTML5 & CSS3
- Knowledge of HTTP and REST
- Ability to design and implement back-end systems architecture
- Proficiency in driving code standards and enforcing them through code reviews
- Experience w/ RDBMS/SQL & creating / maintaining database schemas that represent and support business requirements Experience writing test automation (functional and unit tests) Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
- 5+ years of experience
Nice to Have
- Experience with Java
- Experience with modern front end libraries and frameworks, such as React + Redux
- UI/UX design experience a plus
- Understanding of asynchronous/non-blocking paradigms a plus
- Management of cloud-based hosting environment (particularly AWS) a plus
