Justworks is seeking an experienced software engineer to join our team. As a successful candidate for this role, you have demonstrated the ability to build, deploy and maintain features of large-scale, Ruby on Rails distributed applications. You understand the concept of “separation of concerns” and have leveraged design patterns to solve technical challenges. You understand and use automated testing as a productivity multiplier.
The Payment Experience team is responsible for the systems and features that facilitate inputs and outputs of payroll. This includes time entry and approvals processes, payment scheduling and management, reporting, integrations with relevant third parties, etc. You will work closely with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to scope, design, and build new features and functionality in this area.Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work On
- Build and maintain features and functionality that our customers use directly, typically in an iterative fashion taking into account user feedback
- Work collaboratively with other engineers, product managers, and designers
- Scope work and coordinate efforts with other engineers on the team
- Provide guidance and support growth in other engineers on the team and across other teams
- Implement services and integrations with internal and external clients/engineering teams
- Design systems with privacy, security, and scalability as top concerns

- Minimum of 5 years of professional hands-on experience
- Expertise in large-scale either Ruby on Rails applications or React
- Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Experience building new feature from scratch, using clean, organized, and scalable code
- Experience supporting other engineers and acting as a “tech lead”
- Experience working with complicated systems at scale
