In order to most effectively prevent injuries in a given operational environment, we work closely with each client across many dedicated and leading-edge teams, including client services, data and engineering, IT security and others. Each safety program is tailored to the needs of the workers on the ground and the managers who oversee them, including what types of safety wearables and attachment options will suit them best, and the look and cadence of the safety reports that we’ll provide. The result is an actionable and scalable safety solution that seamlessly becomes part of a facility’s daily routine and is proven to prevent workplace injuries by as much as 64% across hundreds or thousands of Industrial Athletes.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Senior Platform Engineer - Platform Backend, you will be responsible for partnering with other engineering teams to design, build, and monitor our cloud production environment.

Our products are used by thousands of industrial workers across Fortune 100 companies to ensure safety on the job. StrongArm’s safety platform is at the forefront of the emerging predictive safety field using wearable IoT sensors to reduce ergonomic injury (think back pain that has a lasting effect on employees and their families), contact tracing for covid-19, and a host of other safety applications

In this role, you will collaborate with other engineering teams as well as IT and Data teams. You will work with team members located in different time zones.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide leadership to the team on best practices and architecture in backend services
• Build, design, deploy, maintain and lead the implementation of Cloud solutions 
• Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance
• Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design
• Develop tools in a variety of frameworks and languages to guarantee the availability of services
• Mentoring and team members and leading projects

Technical Qualifications / Key Skills

• 5+ years professional work experience
• Computer science, engineering or equivalent degree
• Strong understanding of cloud providers (AWS, GCP)
• Experience with Serverless environments (Lamba, Cloud Functions, etc)
• Experience building infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible etc)
• Experience working with monitoring tools (Datadog)
• Experience building and maintaining scalable solutions for millions of users
• Experience working with CI/CD
• Knowledge of Python (Flask, Django)
• Proficiency with relational databases and ORM design (SQLAlchemy, Alembic, etc)

Bonus Skills

• Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of a well-architected frameworks
• Experience with both monolithic and microservices architectures
• Web applications running at scale with docker on kubernetes
• Optimizing performance at scale
• Unit and integration testing experience (pytest, junit etc)
• Experience with GraphQL
• Experience collaborating with remote engineers across time zone
