Senior Staff Engineer, Services
About the role
As a Senior Staff Engineer you will lead development of core components of our global, multi-tenant eCommerce platform. You will own delivery of complex systems using technologies including Scala, TypeScript, Kubernetes, Terraform, and other cloud solutions. You will mentor and grow a group of highly talented individuals. You will drive engineering best practices and raise the bar for quality.
What you will accomplish:
- You will build relationships with teammates and cross-functional partners in order to guide major initiatives.
- You will advocate for best practices, provide mentorship, and prioritize improvements for the team and partners.
- You will drive the technical decisions in a complex problem domain, understanding the points of view of other team members balanced with the business requirements to synthesize a best compromise solution.
- You will be responsible for the technology direction, long-term quality, technical staff skills, and external technical impacts of services including “ilities” such as reliability, availability, etc.

- You always communicate the “why” behind a decision so teammates understand rationale and can make better decisions accordingly
About the team
Harry’s Services Team builds and maintains a suite of solutions that power eCommerce sites for multiple brands on multiple continents. We are a small, autonomous team with grand ambitions. We make decisions empirically and we choose the right solutions for the job.
