Site Reliability Engineer
SREs at Hinge are part Infrastructure Engineer, part Security Analyst, and part Software Engineer. But we are all heart when it comes to helping our users find love in a safe, reliable, and private space on the internet. We are the owners of the infrastructure, security posture, and of course: production uptime. You will be instrumental in helping Hinge grow into new global regions, as well as expanding the security operations of the company.

SREs work with the rest of the company to ensure their projects are delivered in a secure, performant, and repeatable manner. This comes from our passion to automate the boring stuff so we can concentrate on the interesting work that comes with maintaining and growing a world class infrastructure at a global scale.

What you'll do:
- You will be sharing ownership of the infrastructure with the rest of the SRE team. You will work closely with the product developers and other engineering departments to help deploy their work in a safe and reliable manner.
- Work with our AWS/Kubernetes/Istio stack
- Build tools to make our infrastructure more consistent, more reliable, more observable, and require less manual intervention. We are currently rebuilding our infrastructure in Terraform and Ansible. This work will continue in 2020 to include global expansion.
- We are responsible for various stages of the CI/CD pipeline. This includes container security scanning and deployment orchestration.
- Join the 24x7 on-call rotation for the production infrastructure. The rotation will be one week tours rotated amongst 4 (including yourself) SREs (we plan to grow and spread this out further in 2020).
What you’ll be working with:
- Terraform/Ansible: All infrastructure is being built in Terraform and managed by Ansible
- ELK: We have various ELK stacks, and our Kafka buildout will expand in 2020
- Vulnerability Scanning tools (Nessus, nmap, etc)
- AWS: Our entire infrastructure is built in AWS. We use over 20 different services, including EC2, RDS, EKS, etc.
- CircleCI Pipeline integration (container scanning with Clair/Anchore currently)
- Secure code review
- RDS/Postgres security
- Hashicorp Vault/consul
- Golang: All API/backend code is written in Go (with some Python for the ML team)
Skills you should have:
- 2+ years of experience with Linux systems administration
- Understanding of SRE processes, SLI vs SLO vs SLA, how to define and live by an error budget, etc.
- Coding experience in Go, Bash, or Python (the SRE team uses mostly Go and Bash)
- Experience as a member of 24/7 on-call rotation
- Docker/Kubernetes
- AWS: EC2, RDS, EKS at a minimum
- The ability to automate your tasks in Bash or Go
- Configuration Management experience: Any Chef/Puppet/Terraform/Ansible will do
