Job Description As a member of our Global Finance and Technology Investment Governance engineering team you will be in a hands-on SRE/DevOps role making substantial direct and leadership contributions in terms of coding, automation, design, and improvement of the engineering process as well as providing organizational and technical leadership to establishing SRE for a modern clod-based tech platform of shared micro-services and finance applications. You'll join a strong team of engineers passionate about engineering excellence and focused on building a modern suite of micro-services and cloud applications used in Global Finance to support critical business processes. Coming in with passion for and an understanding of the importance of SRE, modern SDLC, engineering excellence practices and CI/CD is imperative. You'll be often working with and sharing ideas, information, and innovation with our global team of engineers from all over the world.
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you'll help build a meaningful engineering discipline, combining software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions to operations problems. Much of our support and software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and reducing work through automation. You'll join a team of curious problem solvers with a diverse set of perspectives who are thinking big and taking risks. In this environment, you'll take the lead on relevant projects, supported by an organization that provides the support and mentorship you need to learn and grow. As an SRE, you'll be focused on running better production applications and systems.
Responsibilities:

  • Design, code, test, and deliver software to automate manual operational work
  • Troubleshoot priority incidents, facilitate blameless post-mortems and ensure permanent closure of incidents
  • Engage with development team throughout the life cycle to help develop software for reliability and scale, ensuring minimal refactoring or changes
  • Identify application patterns and analytics in support of better service level objectives
  • Design self-healing and resiliency patterns
  • Design automated software and product upgrades, change management, and release management solutions
  • Coach or manage teams as applicable
  • Participate in the 24x7 support coverage as needed


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in an software engineering discipline
  • Expertise in at least one technology stack designing, coding, testing, and delivering software
  • Proficiency in one or more technology domains, may be a cross-domain expert able to solve complex and mission critical problems within a business or across the firm
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure components (e.g. routers, load balancers, cloud products, container systems, compute, storage, and networks)
  • Excellent debugging and trouble shooting skills
  • Passion for automation as well as quality of continuous improvement of the engineering process
  • Experience with leading SRE engineers for supporting highly available production systems in cloud environments (public and / or private)
  • Experience with technical leadership of DevOps/SRE Teams to implement mature cloud DevOps and SRE best practices
  • Experience with defining SRE standards and supporting implementation and adoption of these standards
  • Experience with using monitoring and alerting tools and services
  • Understanding of cloud architectures, microservices and distributed systems
  • Proficiency in modern development process and automation tools
  • Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages including
    • Java, C#, Python, C/C++ or Node.js
    • Web Development - HTML5 ; JavaScript ; CSS
    • API web services
    • SQL
  • Experience working across product and engineering teams to define SRE standards, propose and lead implementation of SRE approaches and best practices as well as recommend specific tooling or services
  • Experience with proposing and developing service level objectives (SLOs) and developing processes and runbooks to meet them as well as to track and measure performance against these objectives
  • Ability to collaborate with high-performing teams and individuals throughout the firm to accomplish common goals
  • Strong communication skills. Must be able to discuss business objectives and potential solutions with technical and / or non-technical stakeholders
  • Systematic, ability to think logically, analyze situations and problem solving
  • Collaborating and influencing disparate teams across the organization to accomplish common goals
