Software Development Engineer II

Discovery acquired Golf Digest in 2019 and is transforming Golf Digest in the premier digital destination for golf. To fulfill this vision, we are looking for a DevOps Engineer who enjoys supporting technical systems including dynamic websites and critical mobile applications. These systems are laying the technical foundation for next generation digital golf experiences for both fans and players.
The role will be responsible for world class CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, testing automation frameworks, and tools that maximize our developer’s efficiency. This role includes working with toolsets that include but are not limited to the Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) content management system, AWS Cloud Services, Cloudformation/Terraform, Jenkins, Chef, Selenium, and Applitools.
Responsibilities
1. Drive projects aimed at reducing deployment times, improving deployment automation, improving developer productivity, increasing automated test coverage and reducing costs.
2. Participate in code reviews and architectural decision making. This role will be expected to code at least 50% of the time.
3. Ability to coordinate well among a variety of internal developers, external vendors, and other third party partners.
4. Mitigate roadmaps encountered by developers and engineers (both back end and front end).
5. Participation, as required, in after-hours support.
Requirements
* A minimum of five years of experience in automating infrastructure including AWS CloudFormation, Terraform or similar environments. Preference given to candidates who have also worked on enterprise-scale consumer-facing websites and applications.
* Development experience working with software testing frameworks.
* Experience in building and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
* Experience in at least one object-oriented language or common web stack scripting language (NodeJS, Javascript, Ruby, Python, HTML/CSS, etc.) and the ability to parse and compose XML/JSON to RFC standards.
* A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related fields (or equivalent training / work experience) is mandatory. Preference will be given to individuals with a graduate degree in these fields / related fields or a compelling story where the candidate has forgone / dropped out of formal higher education to pursue professional opportunities.
