Ghostery, a recognized leader in online user privacy, is looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our tight-knit engineering team. We are interested in engineers with a passion for pushing boundaries and trying new frameworks, languages and methodologies. The ideal person will also be ready to jump into our AWS infrastructure as we manage and upgrade multiple legacy services. Applicants must be excited to contribute to a highly visible open-source project and should have a strong desire to make web browsing a safer experience for all.

This is a mid-level engineering position with a focus on development and growth. Candidates must have a deep working knowledge of Golang and prior experience building clean software applications. Knowledge of at least one back-end language is also required. A formal Computer Science degree is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the product team to develop and deploy new features and bug fixes to the Ghostery product suite
• Build and maintain the AWS infrastructure that powers Ghostery
• Work with the privacy gurus at Cliqz to integrate new privacy-first technology into Ghostery
• Help with the development of new Ghostery privacy applications

Required Qualifications:

• 2-4 years experience building and deploying back-end services in Go
• Experience working with Amazon AWS (EC2, RDS, CloudFront)
• Experience working with PostgreSQL and other relational databases
• Ability to work with Configuration Management and Continuous Integration tools for testing and deployment (Ansible, Travis, Jenkins)
• Understanding of HTTP (request, response, headers, sessions, authentication)
• Experience working in an agile environment
• Ability to build and consume command line tools (Bash, git)
• CS degree or equivalent work experience

Bonus Qualifications:

• Previous history working on large-scale B2C projects (>10 million users)
• Prior experience working in / with ad-tech
• Experience writing JavaScript
• Desktop application development a plus
