About the Team:

The backend engineering team at ActionIQ plays a critical role in building and operating our big-data platform and core product offering. We develop the Scala code base used by our backend systems and low-latency APIs to support a growing feature set and customer requirements. You’ll work in all areas of the software development life cycle - from ideation and brainstorming, writing and reviewing design docs, implementation and test automation, all the way to deployment and monitoring of the product in our production AWS environment. As a member of the team, you’ll work collaboratively with other engineers, product managers, and architects to deliver and support a platform which ingest, models, queries, and delivers multiple terabytes of streaming and batch data everyday.
One year from now you will have (what has been accomplished):

• Learned to build and operate software in a distributed microservices environment
• Become highly proficient in the Scala programming language and AWS.
• Worked closely with others to design, build, and deliver several impactful features
• Enjoyed many Thursday lunches around NYC with coworkers from across the company

Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively in an agile team to design, implement, test, deploy and support new high-priority features.
• Use a variety of observability tools to diagnose, mitigate and fix issues in our production distributed systems.
• Learn, grow, and continuously improve - strive to make good practices better, knowing that there is no best practice.
• Follow good engineering practices through all phases of the SDLC.

Requirements

• A four-year Bachelor's degree
• At least 1 year of experience as a software engineer using any programming language
• Love to work in a team environment with other engineers and product managers
• An excitement to join a culture of constant learning and improvement as an individual and member of your team.
