As a frontend engineer at Second Measure (reporting to our manager of software engineering), you will be an essential member of the team responsible for helping our clients make sense of rich transaction data. Your software will reliably present the output of our pipeline, which processes billions of transactions and provide daily updates, so that our high-value clients can form their marketing and investment strategies.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Partner with designers to develop novel data visualizations.
  • Work closely with data scientists to develop new features for our flagship web product.
  • Apply industry best practices to ensure our platform is flexible and scalable. 
  • Be an essential member of the engineering team to proactively identify and address opportunities to improve our culture and systems.

About you:

  • 3+ years of practical experience writing client-side JavaScript (React/Redux) in a production environment with a working knowledge of Typescript
  • Experience with data visualization technologies (D3, C3, Vega, and Crossfilter).
  • Experience with asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
  • Experience with CSS preprocessors like LESS or SASS, CSS-in-JS (styled-components) and JS bundlers like Webpack.
  • Value well-tested solutions and have experience with frameworks and utilities like Jest and Enzyme.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with visual regression testing (Puppeteer, Selenium).
  • Experience architecting efficient and reusable frontend web components.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform.

We are all working from home at least through 2020 to keep our team safe and healthy. We hope to (at some point) to work from our San Mateo, CA HQ in some capacity in 2021 and it would be great if you are based in the Bay Area. That said, we are open to hiring someone remote on a permanent basis, granted they need to be based in one of the following states: AL, CA, CO, IL, NJ, NY, or WA.
