Software Engineer (New Graduate Summer 2021)
Teachable is looking for a new or recent graduate to join our growing team of engineers! This is a full time permanent role for a software engineer. The start date for this role is flexible but still limited to July 2021
Teachable is an instructor-focused platform that empowers creators to build and sell online courses and coaching on any topic-from iOS development to watercolor painting to card tricks. Instructors using our platform have collectively earned more than $850 million to date.
Most teams are on 2 week sprints and do daily standups. Due to the pandemic, Teachable will continue working remotely until September 7th, 2021 (this date may change if a vaccine is found to be effective and obtainable and/or COVID-19 is no longer a public health threat prior to this date. However, we will provide at least 3 months advance notice if this date is moved up any earlier to help employees make plans). We are looking for a recent or upcoming graduate to work with us as a front end or back end engineer. (Our stack is Ruby/Rails/Typescript/React)
As a software engineer at Teachable, you'll work directly on a system that impacts thousands of instructors and over 30 million students. You will work to create beautiful systems that are robustly designed to meet the needs of our massive and rapidly growing user base.

This is not a data analyst, data engineer or data scientist role.
Who You Are:
- Hold a 4 year CS degree and have a strong grasp of CS fundamentals or have graduated from bootcamp
- Are comfortable with at least one mainstream object-oriented compiled or script language (C++, C#, Java, Ruby, Python, Javascript, etc)
- Experience with Ruby or React is a plus but not required.
- Have a foundational understanding of good coding practices that account for readability, testability, and edge cases.
- Have a foundational understanding of quality and of practices that ensure quality like unit, integration, functional testing, and manual testing or analogous techniques.
- Value working as part of a team collaborating with other team members
- Asks clear questions and communicates effectively.
- Active listener and participant in discussions and contribute ideas to the team.
- Focus on growth and incorporating feedback from others in order to self-improve.
- Previous internship experiences in Technology are always a plus.
