Joining Collibra’s Research and Innovation team:

  • You will report to the Senior Manager, Research and Innovation at Collibra's Research and Innovation team.
  • Our mission is to keep Collibra competitive, by coming up with innovative ideas that will not only disrupt the existing market but also ourselves.
  • In our team we take Collibra's value of driving an embracing change to the core, as we are at the spearhead of creating Collibra's future offering.
  • Our team in supporting other teams or in collaboration with academic institutions has done research and developed innovative prototypes which have driven Collibra's current product offering beyond the state-of-the-art.


Research Scientist at Collibra is responsible for:

  • Support research and innovation activities at Collibra by assisting in building prototypes and developing integration to support said activities.
  • Collaborate with researchers from top research institutes (such as UCSD and VUB)
  • Keep up to date on the state of the art in ML to foster a culture of learning and innovation. 
  • Be creative in performing the necessary data collection to fuel new use cases and projects. 
  • Participate in internal sprints, provide assistance in selected POCs to other engineering or product teams, build independent prototypes to demonstrate value to internal and external stakeholders.


You Have:

  • A Phd in a quantitative or related field (Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Theoretical Psychology, Engineering), or Master with equivalent industry experience.
  • Several years of experience in data analysis and machine learning (preferably outside of academia) with a proven track record of creating an impact using your algorithmic solutions.
  • Proficient in Python and an interest in software design; LLVM languages are a plus (e.g. Julia, GO, Rust).
  • Experience with software development tools and processes (git, testing, peer review)
  • Fluent in English


You Are:

  • Familiar with frameworks such as Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch, PyMC
  • Familiar with knowledge graph infrastructure, ontologies, and algorithms for graph databases, graph analytics or graph mining models (e.g. graph neural networks).
  • Experienced in using Docker and other cloud-related technologies.
  • Eager and open to learn new techniques and technologies, and have an ability to be resilient in an ever changing environment.
  • Hands-on and independent.


Reporting to Collibra’s Research Scientist, measures of success are:

  • Within your first month, you will get familiarized with our product, vision, and current research and innovation activities.
  • Within your third month, you will be leading part of our academic research endeavors and be supporting the research and innovation team with integrations.
  • Within your sixth month, you will have taken on your first set of research and innovation projects creating prototypes to disrupt our current product.
