POSITION OVERVIEW

Operating as both an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) company and an InsurTech company, StrongArm Tech provides unique experiences in software development.  You will have exposure to both hardware and software development, work with machine learning + data at a huge scale, and be a part of the leader in the emerging InsurTech industry.

You must be able to thrive in a fast-past design culture and enjoy holding responsibilities solving challenging problems.

Our open office environment is people focused - we joke, have fun, and enjoy each other's company when we can, but aren’t afraid to roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty to get things done.  We are looking for driven and open-minded engineers with exceptional analytical abilities who can wear a number of hats from software design, software development, architecture, analytics, infrastructure automation, and testing automation.
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Building a highly scalable system for ingesting, transforming, and enhancing trillions of data points data in the field into meaningful insights.

  • Develop a micro services based platform that scales with the business needs.

  • Working with the data science team to implement machine learning models in production, at global scale.

  • Work to enhance StrongArm’s smart gateway android device.
     

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-8 years relevant industry experience

  • Completed a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering

  • Experience with automated testing (unit testing, end to end testing, QA, CI/CD such as Jenkins)

  • Object-oriented programming and design skills

  • Experience with Git version control in a production environment

  • Experience creating APIs

  • Understanding of SQL database technologies

  • Skilled at researching and evaluation of new technologies

  • Cloud systems: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud (GCP)

  • Python proficiency

 

SOFT SKILLS

  • You are self-starting to work on a hyper-motivated team to take on real challenges to create real value and impact to industrial workers who suffer from the lack of tools to enhance their health and safety.

  • You want to work with A-players, where you will grow both personally and professionally while working on challenging problems.

  • Ability to think with an eye to high level architecture and the ability to execute on the steps towards those goals

  • Proven ability to work and problem-solve independently, collaboratively, and creatively

  • Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills

  • Adaptable to changing business needs

  • Development leadership experience or desire to acquire that experience and mentor others
     

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Architecting data pipelines with Apache Spark

  • Devops / SRE (Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)

  • Data warehouses: BigQuery, Redshift

  • noSQL solutions: Cassandra, HDFS and/or Elasticsearch

  • Machine Learning tools, including common machine learning services

  • Experience with streaming data tech. (AWS Kinesis, ZMQ, Kafka, GCP PubSub)

  • Experience as an open source contributor

  • Experience with microservice architectures

  • Mobile software development: Android, React Native, Java

  • Embedded / Electronic engineering

  • Front end web: React, Redux, Immutable.js, Rx.js, Node.js or equivalent
