We are looking for a curious and execution focused Software Engineering Manager/Director to lead one or more teams at Vise. You will partner closely with the Co-Founders, Product, Investment Strategy, Quantitative Engineering, and other executive functions to expand Vise’s current product offering and develop new products. This growth-minded leader will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and solving our most critical technical challenges and opportunities.  We embody an open, collaborative and inclusive spirit, and we value autonomy with accountability to learn and grow from both our wins and mistakes.  

What you will own

• Lead, manage, coach, and support a team of engineers and team leads.
  Lead with a customer first orientation for our products and an empathetic people focused direction for our teams.
  Set, manage and drive the key technology initiatives necessary to ensure alignment among goals, timelines, cost, and quality
• Setting technical direction for our product through thoughtful planning with your team, cross functional and other engineering leaders 
• Cross-Functional partnership with multiple other teams outside of Tech to drive product and business opportunities through technical execution
• Continuously raise the bar by hiring exceptional talent for the team and creating a culture that is collaborative and inclusive.

What you will bring on Day 1

• 3+ years of engineering management experience and must have previous experience as a software engineer
• 3+ years of people management experience 
• Passion for and experience in recruiting talent and managing high performing and motivated engineers
• You are a strong collaborator and an empathic leader. You know when to speak up as well as to respect divergent viewpoints.
• Demonstrated delivery of projects scoped at 3-6 month and ability to articulate technical aspects, trade offs, success metrics and operational impact
• Experience owning a production product and a love for collaboration across functions to achieve business impact
• A desire to grow you management skills in a startup environment where achieving impact through flexibility, grit, and resolve
