The Role

Solutions Engineers manage all of the technical aspects of the sales process from giving product demonstrations to administering proof of concepts to assisting with onboarding and training. They’re tasked with understanding complex infrastructure challenges and prescribing solutions based on customer needs. Even though we’re laser focused on being the thought leaders within the DNS and Traffic Management spaces, solving use cases involving DNS requires our Solutions Engineers to have a vast repository of Internet knowledge to draw upon. On any given call we might find ourselves talking about TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, anycasting, edns-client-subnet, SRTT, encryption, DDoS mitigation, HTTP proxies, disaster recovery, datacenter failover, AWS cloud technologies, auto scaling, and the like. We’ve got to know how they all fit together for our customers’ use case before we can become trusted technical advisers to our clients.

Your Skills:

• Minimum three years of industry experience
• Be comfortable explaining complex subjects in a manner that makes them easily understood by non-technical people
• Excel at self-managing time commitments, calendaring, and meeting preparatory work
• Be very comfortable taking phone calls (very occasionally on an unscheduled basis), presenting, speaking in front of small to medium size groups, and traveling to onsite meetings
• Be personable, engaging, energetic, friendly, and professional at all times

Nice to have:

• Experience configuring and using BIND or other DNS servers or cloud DNS providers
• Experience working with REST APIs and shell scripting
• Experience with Terraform/Cloudformation
• Experience configuring and using TCP/IP networks and services
• Understanding of modern, distributed web application technologies including common software stacks, configuration management and other “devops” tools, caching and CDNs, load balancing technologies, and related
