Grubhub is seeking an experienced engineer to join our dynamic Carting Services Team. This team is at the center of the customer ordering experience and is responsible for critical back end functionality related to building carts, checking out, and submitting orders. The role we’re hiring for will be both technical in nature- dealing with resiliency, throughput, and latency, AND product focused, with the opportunity for engineers to make an impact on our customer experience and bottom line. Suitable candidates should have a pragmatic view of balancing high quality engineering with feature delivery and iteration for the business.
Some Challenges You’ll Tackle
- Develop highly-available, fault-tolerant core features on our carting platform
- Collaborate with leadership, product owners, and other engineers to deliver features that drive our business
- Be a proponent for improving our systems as well as our users’ experiences
You Should Have
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical major and/or comparable real world experience
- 3+ years experience building highly-scalable consumer-facing systems
- Java, C#, Scala, F# or a similar modern object-oriented or functional language
- Experience with unit, end-to-end, and integration testing
- Familiarity with Agile methodology
- Experience mentoring/coaching engineers along with overseeing the technical work of developers from other teams or 3rd party vendors
- Knowledge of or experience with developing distributed systems, messaging frameworks is a plus
- Familiarity with eventually consistent databases (Cassandra/MongoDB/CouchDB), distributed and or relational databases is desired
