Sr Software Engineer (Python)
Joining Collibra’s Technical Lineage team:
- You will be responsible for the development of lineage scanners. The goal is to extract useful metadata from various technologies, specifically ETL tools and BI reporting tools. Extraction has various levels of complexity coming from processing XML files to implementing a lightweight scripting language processor.
- We want to make the data flow graph as complete as possible, for that we need to cover new technologies and we need you.
- You will cooperate with other developers who extract lineage and report to the Product Manager of a specific tool.
- We value understanding above speed. You will need to understand not just our internal software but also the software you will extract lineage from.
Software Engineers at Collibra are responsible for:
- Understanding the concept of lineage in various contexts
- Reverse engineering metadata extracted from other software suites
- Understanding the domain of Business Intelligence, ETL (Extract Transform Load)
- Programming a lineage extractor
- Communicating with product manager about scope
You Have:
- A deep (8+years) experience with Python
- A very good understanding of Rest APIs, XML, JSON and other formats
- Experience with writing SQL
- Good knowledge of at least one other backend language (e.g., Scala, Java, etc)
- Strong plus: ETL or BI products knowledge and/or experience
You Are:
- Able to quickly navigate through new software
- OK with lack of documentation - you can see “behind the corner”
- Familiar with modelling and thinking about Entity Relationship diagrams
- Concise in written communication
- Fully comfortable working in English, that is our common language as a global team!
Reporting to Collibra’s Engineering Manager measures of success are:
- Within your first month, you will deliver your first simple lineage extractor
- Within your third month, you will deliver lineage extractor with complex SQL lineage
- Within your sixth month, you will deliver lineage extractor that synchronizes with Collibra
