As a Staff Engineer, you will solve problems and implement transformations that impact the engineering department as a whole. You and your manager will share the prioritization of your efforts, but you will not wait for work to be handed to you. You will be responsible for understanding the engineering department, its software, its customers, and for identifying leverage points where you can apply your expertise to affect the greatest change.

In this role, you will…

• Work cross-functionally with your business and product partners, and influence the roadmaps of business units with which you interact
• Embed on product engineering teams, attend team ceremonies, and contribute to team objectives
• Bootstrap new projects and initiatives, creating designs, implementation plans, and other documentation, while also writing code and working with engineers and stakeholders on the long-term future of initiatives
• Shepherd multiple teams, working to improve their technical vision and execution
• Mentor engineers of all levels in your particular areas of expertise
• Equip others to complete work, rather than just completing work yourself
• Perform code reviews on a wide range of projects
• Spend time in strategic planning, and on executing the strategic plan
• Experiment with an open-minded team that is always exploring new technologies

We’d love to hear from you if…

• You have 6+ years of experience as a software engineer, designing applications and/or service-based systems
• You have strong communication skills and the ability to comfortably articulate your thoughts and decisions
• You have a proven track record of mentorship
• You have a desire to be involved in all aspects of the product life-cycle, from discovery through deployment
• You have experience working in an agile environment
• You have significant experience in one or more of the following:
• Microservices / Distributed Systems
• Relational Databases
• DevOps
• Data Engineering: ETL / Data Warehousing
• Test Engineering
• React or an Equivalent Web Framework
• GraphQL or REST APIs
