As one of our most senior individual contributors on the team, you’ll work as a technical lead on specific projects critical to Ro’s foundation, focusing on areas such as data and infrastructure. We’re looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas in all areas, including large scale systems designs, distributed systems, data structures, distributed queueing, testing, and reconciling events. You’ll drive technical strategies and roadmaps and mentor junior engineers to tackle platform challenges around growth and scale.
What You’ll Do:
• Architect, design, implement, test, deploy, and operate backend data systems and services, working with some of the largest datasets at Ro
• Advocate for technical and architectural excellence. Promote high quality standards in engineering best practices that exemplify core tenets of Ro’s solutions in code consistency, performance, and scalability
• Strive for product empathy, thinking holistically through all aspects of the product and systems we’re building
• Lead designs of major software components, systems, and features spanning across Ro’s platform
• Help build teams and cultivate partnerships and collaboration cross-functionally with product, design, and data
• Coach and mentor junior developers, performing code and architectural reviews
What You’ll Bring:
• Proven success in fast-paced and flexible software engineering teams
• Demonstrated abilities in architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact
• Extensive experience designing, building, testing, and scaling highly reliable backend services and distributed data processing services
• A deep understanding of system design, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
• Strong coding skills with an interest and ability to learn other coding languages - experience in Python & Go are a plus
• An ability to problem solve and pragmatically execute strategies
• Outstanding communication skills, an ability to tailor communication styles to different audiences in an engaging and respectful manner
