Streaming Media Engineer
At Major League Baseball, we continue to pioneer new innovations across media and technology and strive to create the best experience in sports and entertainment. In the Media Technology department, we are looking for a talented, hardworking and dedicated teammate to join our incredibly fast-paced environment. Focused on streaming media, we want to create and enhance our constantly growing profile of apps, partners and digital initiatives all across the globe.
Required Skills:
● 3+ years of experience with digital video
● Deep understanding of compressed video/audio codecs and containers that best fit Live or VOD
● Understanding of HLS/DASH/CMAF and RTMP standards
● Skilled in working with mezzanine codecs and their relationship to bandwidth sensitive environments
● Highly proficient in an operating system of your choice. MacOS, Windows, and Linux, we support them all (most of us are on macs)
● Linux and/or Unix experience. Pipe and shell mean more to us than a Mario game
● AWS or GCP experience. As simple as S3 triggers to full a Kubernetes cluster, we’d like to hear what you’ve built
- Ability to recognize and troubleshoot issues inside software applications and infrastructure environments
- Great organizational skills; must be able to track large scale projects and keep multiple teams updated on status
Preferred Skills:
● Well versed in the more detailed video attributes like GOP structures, picture types, chunk sizes and all the nitty gritty settings
● Python, NodeJS, or any scripting language you have experience with
● Bash command language experience
● A love for Raspberry Pis
