Working directly with the country’s largest beverage alcohol distributors, SevenFifty’s Web Development Team Lead will work on the SaaS platform that helps our customers embrace innovation. Our newest colleague will join a tight-knit group of folks who crave ownership and change rather than rigid structure and micromanagement.

If you love technology, the beverage industry, and lots of autonomy, this role is for you.

This person can be located in the New York area or throughout the United States (working remotely) and they will report to our Web & Mobile Engineering Manager.

We're looking for an experienced full-stack developer to join our 15-person engineering team and lead development for a small squad. The squad you’ll be joining is currently four other engineers and a product manager working with stakeholders across the business, and a cross-team designer as needed. The squad's core mission is to build and support SevenFifty Storefronts, our consumer-facing e-commerce platform for beverage retailers, which is a progressive web app built on C#/.NET Core APIs with a React frontend.

This role entails a mix of hands-on development and team leadership. In addition to directly contributing to the squad's work through software development and code review, you'll act as the glue for the team, facilitating strong communication and ensuring each squad member's day-to-day priorities align with business goals. This role is on our management career track, and we expect to ask you to become the squad's formal manager within a year.

We transitioned to being geo-distributed in 2019, and communicate primarily using Slack, Zoom, and GitHub. Prior to COVID we convened about twice a year in person, and look forward to being able to reinstate our Team Week tradition.

What you’ll do:

  • Contribute directly to feature development
  • Mentor and coach other developers, especially through code review
  • Help squadmates plan projects, keep work on track, and resolve process bottlenecks
  • Support your squad's product manager in stakeholder reviews and roadmap planning, to ensure the squad is effectively creating business value

What you'll have:

  • 5+ years working on multiple teams developing web apps, and running them in production for thousands of users
  • Strong collaboration and mentorship skills
  • Experience resolving ambiguity by applying an understanding of business needs
  • Familiarity with a range of project management process, tools, and frameworks, and opinions on how and when to use them (with a non-dogmatic approach)
  • Clear and concise written communication ability

What you do not need:

  • A college degree
  • A high GPA or SAT score
  • An address in or around New York City
  • To drink – many of our colleagues don’t
