Position Overview

If you’re the secret weapon in the back pocket of today’s top tech executives and engineers have been known to say prayers to you before starting projects then you’ve come to the right place.

We’re looking for a guru of technology to help divine the future of LiiRN and provide technical leadership to cross-functional product teams as they build a great product for our clients.   As the Technical Director, you’ll need to understand the business holistically and be able to drive strategic alignment across teams.  In addition, you will have proven ability as a trusted advisor and thought leader and be able to provide leadership and exceptional relationship management.

In this position, you will have a significant amount of influence related to technology direction, client opportunities, and team growth and hiring. In addition, you will focus on outcomes; thinking through, documenting, and communicating value propositions and concrete metrics for success.

In this role, you’ll be…

• Analyzing client needs and ensuring that they fit with objectives and quality standards, as well as available resources and budgets

• Fostering the ongoing development of QA and Dev Ops teams

• Learning from and mentoring awesome engineers on a daily basis while promoting a culture of innovation, efficiency, and quality

• Assisting and leading teams in iteration planning, retrospectives, and demos

• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with business and technical staff in on-site and virtual environments and remote teams

• Participating in and in some cases leading software engineering best practices initiatives

• Developing long-term strategic product and financial planning while overseeing the technical development process and making sure various stakeholders are in contact and aligned

• Connecting with real humans and helping to drive change for some of today’s most influential and successful companies

To qualify for this role, you need...

• 5-8 years of technical director or lead engineer experience with a primary focus in Enterprise Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)

• To have lived and worked in New York City before, because we honestly love it here and even if you're awesome, unfortunately, we have no plans of moving

• Familiarity with the Django framework or similar

• WordPress site knowledge

• Cloud Architecture and Virtual Machines - entire architecture is Cloud Based

• Proficiency in:

  • CSS, HTML, and JavaScript

  • MySQL, Redis, Python

  • Bootstrap & Gulp

• Proven experience with:

  • DB Servers: MySQL

  • App Servers: running Nginx, Docker, Python, Django, Celery

  • Web Servers: consisting of Unix/Ubuntu VMs

  • LB Server: running Nginx

• Experience managing Enterprise security reviews

• To be a go-getter, self-starter, team player, and while you love collaboration you’d never find yourself as the butt of a how many people does it take to screw in a lightbulb joke

• A strong grasp of UI/UX fundamentals, Design Thinking and Google Material Design

• Outstanding communication and presentation skills and an ability to communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

• To be a high performer who checks their ego at the door and can roll with the reality that we’re a SaaS platform with a bit of sass
