We are growing and expanding our customer deployments, and we are currently seeking a terraform developer to join our operations team.

As a terraform developer at mParticle, your primary responsibility would be writing terraform following the guidance of key members of the production operations team and engineering team. Your work will empower our engineering team to be more consistent, have higher velocity, less errors and make the production operations team more efficient. You will work closely with developers, be part of daily standups and change discussions, and work together as a team with fellow developers.

As an mParticle Terraform Developer, you will...

  • Write new Terraform and Ansible code and improve existing codebase to help automate and accelerate team velocity
  • Contribute to our scale goals by identifying areas for improvement that can lead to higher efficiency
  • Use your daily interactions with the engineering team to gain and expand your experience with our platform, expand and improve your skills and constantly improve our environment
  • Be a part of the daily standups of engineering squads and maintain close relationship with developers and their daily work
  • Be proactive and take ownership in identifying, raising, and resolving issues or deficiencies you see
  • Work closely with a team lead to ensure our codebase is efficient, consistent and bug-free

You will be perfect for this role, if you...

  • Solid core knowledge of AWS, and desire to learn more
  • Be comfortable with Terraform - high junior or mid-level experience with TF, 1+ years preferably
  • Be comfortable with Ansible
  • Have a solid base in Linux, shell and/or Python scripting
  • Experience with CI/CD
  • Experience with Docker and Docker orchestration products is a plus
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Be proactive in spotting problems, areas for improvement
  • Have an eye for edge cases, behaviors, creative solutions
  • Efficiently balance speed/iteration and quality

  • Understand our Terraform codebase
  • Understand the impact of your changes, and how to test and prevent issues
  • Work well with others and follow guidance from your team lead
  • Clearly communicate status and expectations
  • Cleanly document your work
  • Be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues with your code
